Satellite

I’m currently running a feature rich and nice looking photo gallery on this site (powered by Gallery 2). While it certainly has a lot of good points it’s also very slow and cumbersome to use. Lately I’ve become infatuated with Flickr as both an online photo gallery and a place to physically store the photos. Flickr has a great photo community and a fantastic online organizing utility (Adobe Lightroom doesn’t come close to the organizing features in Flickr). Because my current photo gallery runs off of my web server I host all the photos on my physical storage. I have a great deal of space but why not use Flickr to manage the storage for me?
Now I’m trying out a new way to integrate this site with my Flickr photo gallery. The new gallery is called Satellite and you can see it running HERE. It’s much more simple looking than my Gallery 2 installation but the benefit is that it pulls the photo sets and images directly from my Flickr account. It also loads much faster. Even better, it bests Flickr by giving me a black background to work with (Flickr only offers their stock white background and many photos look best when presented on black).
