Why did people buy this car?

The Pontiac Aztec represents the worst auto design I have ever laid eyes upon. If the elephant man design doesn’t turn you off there’s that metric ton of cheap plastic slapped in all the right places which ought induce a little throw-up. Pontiac’s crack (smoking) design team clearly have a fettish for gluing crappy plastic all over an existin GM model. Once they disguise the (already unattractive) GM model with enough plastic it becomes a Pontiac.
I saw three of these ugly ass things on the road today. I wonder what kind of people buy these things? I imagine they were offered as contest give-aways or donated to the homeless as a tax write-off for GM. Perhaps this is the car they use to test infant car seats for accident worthiness, target practice for military live-fire tests, or that D.A.R.E. wreck parked outside high school. Certainly no human with a functioning visual cortex paid cash money for this sasquatch of a vehicle?
